1. In Romania, Maria and Ferenc are no longer able to feed the 287 dogs at their shelter. If nobody takes action, they will starve !
"Before the pandemic situation, every Saturday we went in Salonta in some parking spots to obtain donations from the people through public campaigns, but because today we are not allowed to walk on the streets, we cannot obtain food anymore using this method.
We have no food, no money, it is worse than ever. We don't know what we will do. We are worried that very soon we will not have food anymore. "
2. There are many dogs, and they are already hungry: fights break out and may get out of hand!
"There is a huge number of dogs on the streets and our association could not host so many dogs. A few months ago we decided to select the worst cases and to help them, we try to take in the shelter the baby dogs, the dogs that are very aged or sick in order to help them live.
We already have to give them less than they need, dogs are agitated. It is very difficult to support so many dogs with very few resources. We have great, great need for food."
3. Mosu was only skin and bones when he arrived this winter, he won't be able to hold on for long without kibble.
"He is Mosul, he is around 13-15 years old. He was just skin and bones when I found him last winter... he didn't move for 2 weeks, he just lay down... Now he walks and is outside because the weather is nice."
4. On their own to deal with the shelter, Maria and Ferenc are at their limits, and can no longer buy kibble.
"We, with 300 souls, have reached the end of our powers. We love these innocent souls with all our hearts, and care for them; but without food it's a disaster. We feel sorry for them and love them so much."
"We cannot longer face the situation by our own because we no longer have resources. We don't have a permanent sponsor to help us with all the expenses and there are many needs. We are helpless."
5. Maria and Ferenc don't ask for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving.
"The number of dogs is very big, the resources are limited, there are big restrictions in our country and the people cannot help us anymore.
We don’t have people surrounding me who wants to donate because they are in a difficult situation too, and dogs are not their priority."

"People do not donate anymore because they are focusing more on their own needs. In this period a lot of people don’t have money anymore because they missed their jobs or because the money is not enough anymore. Also, we can no longer go on the streets and make campaigns for telling the people our needs, so everything is more difficult now."

11. This shelter was visited prior to lockdown.
Due to the current health crisis, Romania has been placed under lockdown since March 16th. As movements have been drastically reduced and controlled, it has been impossible for us to visit the shelter to organise this campaign.
However, Animal Webaction visited Maria and Ferenc's shelter only a few months ago. We have remained in close contact with Maria, who has enabled us to prepare this campaign, and in whom we place all our trust.
