Animal Webaction visited the site 22 May 2020 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Romania, Georgina is running out of kibble to feed her growing number of dogs. If no one takes action, her 66 dogs will starve!

"I've never had so many dogs at the shelter. I've always had around 50, but right now I have 66...

I keep rescuing more and more dogs from the street, and from the public shelter, because otherwise they are euthanized... I am also currently feeding 15 stray dogs, which I can't take in due to lack of space.

With all these new arrivals, and the fact that people stopped adopting altogether due to the pandemic, the main issue right now is the lack of food. I only have food left for 5 days..."

2. Fights over the lack of food have already started... If Georgina doesn't find kibble soon, the situation could degenerate!

###

"My main concern is that they will start killing each other if they don’t have any kibble to eat...In fact, there's already been fights.

Around two weeks ago, dogs were sharing a bowl of food and started arguing, I had to separate them. One dog was bitten on the paw but thankfully, it didn't get too bad. By then, I was already giving them less food than usual due to lack of money...

There are from 3 to 6 dogs per box so when food is lacking, that's unfortunately what happens. The most important thing for them is to eat. I really don't know what could happen if I don't find food soon..."

3. Abandoned in the middle of nowhere, Betty and her 8 puppies have just arrived at the shelter, they won't survive without kibble!

###

"Betty is 4 years old, I rescued her from an empty land 2 weeks ago along with her 8 babies. She is very scared and with her babies, they're the most vulnerable dogs of the shelter. In the past, 3 puppies have been killed by other dogs...

Besides, she needs to eat, because if she doesn't, she won't produce milk for the babies."

4. With her meagre salary and her growing expenses for the shelter, Georgina can no longer afford to buy kibble.

###

"I am managing the shelter on my own. I cannot buy enough dog food because I simply don't have enough money.

The dogs eat around 2-3 packs of 10kg kibble per day. That's a lot of money to spend on food, every day. I don’t even earn that much daily with my full-time job! It is very difficult...

If I want somebody to help me at the shelter, they will ask for money and I can’t pay them. I don’t even have enough money for food, so I definitely don’t have money to pay someone to help me."

5. Georgina isn't asking for money, only kibble to feed her dogs!

###

"I love animals very much, I feed them, I clean them, I play with them... They need to feel love! I am dedicating my whole life to animals... But here in Romania, people are poor and they don’t have this "animal culture".

A lot of people abandon dogs and most of them don’t treat them well, even at home. They adopt dogs from the shelter to put them on a chain...I feel really sad for the dogs that are put in these bad situations because of human actions."

6. If this campaign is successful, Georgina will not receive any money but 2560 kg of kibble will be delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Romania

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Romania, still active despite the confinement, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Actions launched on Animal Webaction often fail

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The organizer doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

8. In Romania, it is difficult to find funds for kibbles, there are no aid, no grants, no foundation... Many abandoned dogs die alone in the streets, in complete indifference...

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Georgina, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch.
