Animal Webaction visited the site 03 June 2020 and confirms the situation described below.

Animal Webaction cannot be held responsible for dog deaths due to the absence of kibble.

1. In Macedonia, Beti will soon run out of kibble to feed about a hundred street dogs she cares for, what will become of them?

%%%

"Every morning I wake up and I drive the car around my town, outside town, inside town, to places where I know there are street dogs waiting for me to feed them.

With the pandemic, the situation is worse than ever. The restaurants are not working, there's fewer people on the streets and no tourists to feed them. Since the lockdown, we noticed more dogs wandering on the streets and searching for food. Lack of food makes the dogs angry...

Every day I'm facing the problem of lack of food. And when feeding the dogs in the shelter and the ones on the street, it is impossible to make a stock that is enough, and you cannot plan how much food will remainThe situation is at this point very critical for me, I really have so many dogs to take care of, and I really do my best but I really need help."

2. Beti's shelter hosts more than 200 dogs, they too will have no more kibble in a few days!

%%%

"The covid-19 caused the closure of transports and borders, so there is a severe drop in adoptions. People are leaving dogs in front of the shelter's door every day, so the number of dogs keeps rising, there are too many dogs that I care for. I feel pain for them, I just can't leave them there.

My main concern is that I won't be able to feed them all and buy the necessary medications that they need to take, and that breaks my heart. I don't even want to think about it. I'll do everything it takes to provide them food. I can't just leave them hungry. They're my babies. I need to take care of them."

3. Starving to the point of not being able to walk when she was rescued at the end of May, Lena will not survive without kibble.

###

"Lena is barely 6 months old. She was starved to death when I found her on the street. She couldn't stay on her feet and walk. I took her to the shelter, now she's a bit better and started to walk on her own.

But she's still very frail, and her immune system is very low. I'm afraid the lack of food will be severe for her, and she could die."

4. For 12 years, Beti has been devoting herself body and soul to abandoned dogs, but the pandemic has unsettled everything, she can no longer afford to buy kibble!

###

"Well, the consequences are too many hungry dogs and a lack of donations. The dogs are too many to feed both on the streets and in the shelter, I´m always running out of money since I also have to take the animals to the vet; for sterilizations, health controls, broken bones, treatments...

I give these dogs what ever food I can give them, nobody around here gives anything for free, not even the butchers or food industries or the markets, everything needs to be bought no matter if it's just bread, nothing comes for free for these dogs.

I get no kind of support from locals at all and I have no sponsors, only a few adopters who send money from time to time, it´s very hard to count on that. I do everything not to leave them hungry."

5. Beti doesn't ask for money, just kibble to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"Since 2008 I have an organization here on my private small piece of land where I take in dogs and some kittens from the streets of this municipality. I take injured dogs, abandoned who seem to be lost, I take in puppies, pregnant dogs...

My devotion is 24/7, 365 days a year. I stay here all day and take care of them. My mum and dad are helping me a lot. There are too many dogs, but it's only me and my parents. My mom is responsible for the puppies and small dogs, she is 66, and my dad is helping, he is 78, they are getting tired quickly.

Sometimes I feel tired because I am constantly with dogs,  but when the owners send me photos of my dogs I feel stronger, more than 200 got adopted from my shelter. That's the best part of my work, that's what I am fighting for. "

6. If this campaign succeeds, Beti will not receive any money but 2400kg of kibbles, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistics centre in Macedonia.

Animal Webaction has a logistics centre in Macedonia which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Faced with the drop in donations, Beti fights to keep the association alive, she needs this food campaign to continue.

" With the coronavirus and the world crisis, most of the people lost their jobs and cannot afford to donate. As a result, there aren't any donations which I understand. It's a difficult time for all of us.

But you can't just say to a dog you'll not eat today. We need to treat them as humans, just like we need to eat every day they need to eat also. "

I'm giving my best to find donors that'll help me to feed them and carry on. You could be our last hope since fundraising is not going very well these times"

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction frequently fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the organizer receives nothing and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Macedonia, neither the state nor the population wants to help abandoned dogs. A lot of animals are left to die outside, there is no care for them.

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Beti, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch.

If you represent a Foundation or an NGO for animal protection, please help Beti's dogs, contact us and we will put you in touch!

If you want to come to the association's shelter to help Beti or if you want to send her directly kibbles or a check, contact her via Facebook (note: the direct help is under your own responsibility).
