Animal Webaction visited the site 05 June 2020 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, the sanitary crisis has led to mass abandonments... Karim will soon run out of kibble to feed the growing number street dogs. If nobody does anything, they will starve!

%%%

"There has been a growing number of abandonments ever since the end of March. We've done so many rescues, our whole budget goes into it, because it generates a lot of costs (transport, treatments, radiology, consultations, vaccinations, neutering...).

We also feed a hundred street dogs every day, it's much more than before. The snack bars and restaurants being closed, stray dogs do not find anything to eat, we use a lot of kibble to be able to feed them all. Before, we used 20KG/day to feed the street dogs. Now we need at least double that amount, just for one day.

We would like to continue our action and expand, rescue more dogs and help those in distress because blind, deaf, amputee, handicapped dogs, puppies...these dogs will not survive on the street. But it is even harder than before, we've already had to refuse some rescues. It's very difficult... we need help."

2. Karim's shelter is home to 49 dogs. Without kibble, they too will starve!

%%%

"Ever since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, we haven't received donations or investments. We've also been let down by sponsors who made false promises to us.

The lack of funding meant that we had to ration the dogs. Ever since the start of lockdown, we had to halve the dogs' daily food intake.

The dogs do not eat enough at the moment, I have about 3 days of kibble left, it is a very very critical stage. If I can no longer feed them, I'm afraid I'm going to have to close the shelter. That's not an option."

3. Rescued by Karim over a week ago, Cora is paralyzed and very skinny. She won't survive without kibbles!

###

"Cora is only 2 months old, I rescued her in the street in Ourika, 30 km south of Marrakech. She was born with a malformation in the pelvis, she has a paralyzed leg. The other leg may be able to recover, if not, she will need walking wheels.

She is in a state of severe malnutrition, she is more fragile than the others. She needs to eat a lot to gain strength and recover, she is still just a puppy. Without an abundant and regular diet, she will not survive. "

4. Touched by animal distress since his arrival in Morocco, Karim is spending all his resources to help the country's animals. In debt, he can no longer manage on his own!

###

"From the get go, we don't have many donations but ever since the crisis, it's totally dead. For example, during the month of may, we had only one rescue taken care of, and only 20 euros of donations otherwise.

We have debts everywhere: between 2700/3200 euros at the veterinary clinic and at the supplier the equivalent of 4 months of debts, 3650 euros.

There is a lot to do at the shelter but the funds are not there. At the moment we can't even buy kibble, so how do you expect us to move the shelter forward on basic issues like infrastructure, staff, animal care... It's not possible."

5. Karim isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep his dogs from starving!

###

"As a person, when I see a living being suffering, whether it be a human or an animal, I am not happy. I saw that in Morocco there is a lot of work to be done on awareness and animal protection, that's why we created our association L'arche de Noé, in 2015.

Animals have feelings like humans, they each have their own character so you have to understand them, people here do not have this sensitivity unfortunately... This is one of our future projects, visiting schools, to sensitize children to the animal cause. It is also by dealing with the fundamental problem that we will be able to improve things. "

6. If this campaign is successful, Karim will not receive any money but 3 000 kg of kibble will be delivered to them from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco, still active despite the confinement, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Karim has tried multiple appeals for donations, in vain. This is his last call for help!

"We have no aid or subsidy, no sponsors, we have never found any. We don't know what to do anymore ... A lot of people ask us to rescue animals, but they don't understand that we cannot function without funding.

We try to rally people to our cause and sensitize them by asking them to share on social networks or ask them to give 1 euro per month. If we have 3000 or 4000 people who give a little bit, it will help us a lot, but unfortunately, this never happens!."

8. Actions launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The organizer doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies . It is very difficult to find funding for kibbles, many dogs remain starving on the street!
