Animal Webaction visited the site 15 June 2020 and confirms the situation described below.

Animal Webaction cannot be held responsible for dog deaths due to the absence of kibble.

1. In Morocco, Elise is short of kibbles to feed the 200 dogs in her shelter. If no one takes action, they'll starve to death!

%%%

"Since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been a lack of cash and food donations. I can no longer afford to buy the food needed for my 200 dogs, I have to ration them.

Usually, they eat 60 kg of kibble/day. Since the beginning of containment, they have gone down to 40KG/day, and we complete their rations with bread.

My dogs don't eat enough... they've already lost weight, they get diseases with complications... If I don't get help, it will be a disaster!"

2. At the shelter, fights have already started due to the lack of kibble. In case of famine, dogs might fight each other to death!

###

"Because of the lack of food, the dogs fight when the bowls arrive, to try and eat as much as possible. Fifi was hurt in the eye a few days ago during a fight...

The most fearful dogs don't eat enough and catch diseases. We treat them, but some of them die anyway... We had two deaths last week..."

3. Texane had a leg torn off in an accident: despite the confinement, Elise rescued her in an emergency, but she won't survive without kibble.

###

"Texane is a 7-month-old female, I took her in 15 days ago after she was hit by a car. She can't walk properly, she has to have her leg amputated completely.

She's very thin and fragile, so I have to feed her a lot so she can regain her strength and have the surgery.

If the lack of food lasts, her immunity won't be strong enough, she's at risk of catching diseases."

4. Because of the lack of kibble and the drop in donations, Elise can no longer rescue new dogs, they are left to die on the streets.

"This pandemic has made one thing clear: everything depends on money and donations. I used to be able to help the dogs of poor people by giving them care, surgeries..The shelter was used as a free clinic.

Now, I can no longer help them and I can no longer accept new dogs, except in cases of extreme emergency (a dog that has been involved in an accident or has been struck by a car for example). Benco, pictured here, cannot be rescued, I no longer have the resources to take good care of him...

We do not know when this crisis will end. Here, the containment has been extended until at least July 10. I don't know how I'm going to manage on my own..."

5. Elise carries the shelter at arm's length but with the confinement and the drop in donations, she can no longer buy kibble!

###

"Because of lockdown, people have lost their jobs, they can't go out or visit the shelter. ..There's a drop in adoptions. Some factories and sponsors have also closed. We only have two workers left working at the shelter...It's complicated.

Donations have also dropped significantly. My husband has been forced to fund the shelter out of his own pocket for the past few months...This cannot continue. It's all having an impact on me personally, I'm very confused, I'm going through a very difficult and painful time."

6. Elise isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep her dogs from starving!

###

"When I see all these animals put in this situation because of human actions, I feel a sense of great distress. I don't know what to do to help all these dogs, especially now since we don't get any more donations or food... I cry about it sometimes.

My love for animals is so big that I try to do my best to give them a better life. But the dogs, even at the shelter, are not happy; they will only know happiness when they find a family that will adopt them and take care of them. I feel so helpless in the face of this situation."

6. If this campaign is successful, Elise will not receive any money but 3500 kg of kibble will be delivered to them from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco, still active despite the confinement, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Elise has managed to avoid the worst so far, but her loyal supporters have already done their best, she doesn't know how to go on.

"With this pandemic, we don't know where we're going. Lack of money, donations, food...The future of the shelter is hanging on these kinds of problems. We're going through a difficult time.

In Europe it is not easy either, some sponsors even have difficulties to settle their sponsorship, just like in Morocco.

We still have to continue to feed the animals in the shelter, unfortunately we can't buy all the food we need."

9. Actions launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The organizer doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

10. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies . It is very difficult to find funding for kibbles, many dogs remain starving on the street!

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Elise, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch.

If you represent an animal protection foundation or NGO, please help Elise's dogs, contact us and we will put you in touch!
