1. In Russia, Elan has only two days of kibble left for his 334 dogs. Deadly fights have already broken out during the last famine, Elan fears that the dogs will kill each other again!
"We have kibbles for two days and some grains for the next few days, that’s all. We try to prolong our supplies, but we are on the verge. I am afraid to even think of what would happen when we have nothing left. We've been there already...
Last time we received help from Animal Webaction, this help was a chance for survival for our shelter. It wasn’t just a mere support or improvement of the drastic situation; it was a matter of survival. But now food supplies are scarce and we need to ask for help once again. If we don't find food, it will be a catastrophe."
2. Elan's shelter is the only hope on the spot for hundreds of dogs, but he won't be able to continue without kibble.
"Our shelter is vital for Sochi. There are too many animals in need. Just several days ago we found a dog who had been lying for 3 days with a broken spine. It goes without saying that we took the poor dog to the vet.
Our resources are scarce. We help mostly those dogs who are in trouble: injured, old, puppies. The vast majority of dogs in our shelter either have medical history or are grown puppies.
Our main concern is related to dog’s viability. You see, dogs can survive in cold, muddy, dirty cages, but they can’t live without food or water. The survival and health depend on food."
3. Neglected and abused all his life, Pegas was condemned without Elan's intervention. Still very weak, he remains in danger without kibble.
"This poor dog had been tied to a tree for 8 years. He had no doghouse; the chain was so heavy that he could barely move. He was poorly fed. He is eight but he looks like a 14-year-old dog. The neighbors raised the alarm when the owners wanted to put the dog down because he looked bad.
His health is fragile, he is recovering now. His toe is inflamed and had to be cut off, and he rarely moves. His muscles are weak and he needs good food to recover and become stronger."
4. The pandemic has deprived Elan of work and income, the shelter is destitute and heavily indebted, no one can buy kibble.
"Due to the pandemic, I still can’t work and have no income. I work in the industry of entertainment. I am a concert manager, and authorities still forbid to run the shows. I can’t earn money, so I can’t help the shelter.
The shelter is in debt, we owe thousands of euros to the clinics. I also have my personal debts as I had to borrow a lot for the needs of the shelter. Our volunteers simply have no money.
I have no bonds with businessmen or any organizations which can help us. The shelter’s volunteers and me are all alone in this trouble. We can’t cope on our own."
5. Elan is not asking for money, only kibbles to keep the dogs from starving.
"We still feel the effect of the lockdown strongly. But we also see some things improving.
We see the number of adoptions increase locally, and also abroad thanks to public awareness. Twenty of our dogs are waiting to be adopted abroad once the borders are open. We are looking forward to more adoptions and help, of course, and hope to be able to maintain the shelter to get there."
6. If this campaign succeeds, Elan will not receive any money but 3240 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Russia.

7. The faithful partner associations of the shelter have already used up all their options and can no longer buy kibbles; Elan is unable to find new sponsors.
"First of all, not all people sympathize with abandoned animals. Those who feel sympathy and want to help, they usually have little money. On top of this, a lot of people became unemployed during the lockdown and need help themselves, so they don’t have money to help the shelter.
We also addressed several Russian organizations, but no one is willing to help unfortunately."
8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

9. In Russia, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibbles, many dogs remain starving on the street!
