Animal Webaction visited the site 24 September 2020 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Romania, Anca will soon be out of kibble to feed more than 70 street dogs, abandoned in the middle of nowhere. They will starve if nobody intervenes!

%%%

"I take care of about 70 stray dogs, unfortunately their number is increasing. People keep abandoning them, even more so since the pandemic started as many people can no longer afford to take care of their dogs. Usually, they simply stop the car and throw puppies or even adult dogs that are tied with wire and put in sacks.

If I can’t feed these dogs properly, they’ll start looking for food by all means. They'll wander the streets, being more at risk to be hit by cars. I'm worried that hungry dogs might start to attack people, who are already reticent to dog interactions, and would with no doubt call the dogcatchers. For dogs in Romania, this is the first step to a certain and violent death.

I’ve been taking care for these animals for 5 years now and they are an important part of my life, I can't give up on them. They have absolutely no chance to survive unless someone provides them with food and health care. Unfortunately, my personal funds cannot cover their needs."

2. Thrown out on the street four years ago, Bear is an old dog in poor health, he will not survive without kibble.

###

"Bear is a friendly dog that was abandoned 4 years ago. He wandered in the area for several months before settling in near the canal. He doesn't accept other male dogs around, but he is a great companion to Tita, whom he protects.

I recently found him unconscious, so I rushed him to the vet. His diagnostic was that bear must have suffered a stroke, due to old age. He also has Dirofliariasis, a parasitic disease for which I've been treating him for weeks."

3. Unemployed for months because of the pandemic, Anca now earns a modest salary, which does not allow her to buy kibbles.

###

"The state of emergency sent me on unpaid leave since the company I work for was temporarily closed. My personal funds quickly vanished. I resumed working, but my salary was decreased because the company has financial difficulties. Using my own funds to provide food and health care for the dogs is currently impossible.

I am also alone in this daily fight to provide food and care to all these 70 dogs. I wake up early every morning and fill the trunk of my car with 50 liters of water and many bags of dog food. Then, I go to feed the dogs. Some of them are already waiting for me, others need to be searched for. There are dogs that suffered abuse and now are fearful. Right after completing this task, I have to run to work.

I'm ready to do everything for these dogs, use all the personal funds that I have, ask for help, accumulate debts. But still, I don’t know how am I going to feed these dogs on long term. The situation is stressful. Finding newly abandoned dogs periodically saddens me and makes me feel helpless."

4. Anca is not asking for money, only kibbles to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"I take care of animals because I love them. I don’t think that humans are superior to other species. I cherish life, therefore I love all of its forms. I cannot passively witness what is happening in Romania regarding strays. It’s too much hate, abuse, and violence.

I do my best to help animals, promote responsible pet ownership, and improve public attitude towards animals. Every morning I leave home to feed the dogs I fear I’ll find even more strays that I won’t be able to feed. It breaks my heart finding dogs abandoned with no chance of survival (tied with wires, thrown in the canal etc).

Caring for 70 dogs is resource-intensive. Donating food and medical supplies for these animals is one of the best things that people who really care can do. Even the smallest things can have significant effects on the lives of these beautiful but unlucky dogs."

5. If this campaign succeeds, Anca will not receive any money but 3000 kg of kibbles, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistics platform in Romania.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Romania, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

6. Anca's loyal supporters are too few to provide for so many dogs, she doesn't know how to get help.

"First of all, I believe people don’t care enough about stray dogs. I can’t see other reason for the situation we are currently facing in Romania. Everybody wants the streets to be clean and they simply don’t care what happens with the animals after calling the dogcatchers. I tried to raise awareness in the community, but local people refuse to help.

Secondly, the pandemic created unprecedented difficulties for everyone. Many people lost their jobs or had their salaries decreased, so they can barely provide for their families. Lastly, I do not own a private shelter. I’m just a simple person with a lot of love and care for strays. Unfortunately, my feelings and kind attitude are not enough to convince people that I’m doing this for the benefit of the dogs exclusively.

I don't usually get donations. Sometimes I get medication for the dogs, but everyone was negatively impacted by the pandemic, so I get less help every day."
