Animal Webaction visited the site 06 October 2020 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Elise lacks kibble to feed the 200 dogs in her shelter. If no one takes action, they will starve!

%%%

"There's a huge drop in donations, I can no longer buy enough kibble for the dogs. I am forced to give them a mix of kibble and bread. They don't eat enough, they've already lost weight, they catch more and more diseases...

The vast majority of the dogs in my shelter are here because they have been abandoned or were injured, sick...I really fear that their condition will worsen if the lack of food persists. They need vitamins and kibble to regain their strength."

2. The shelter is saturated, the dogs are fighting to be able to eat!

###

"During this confinement, there are more and more abandoned dogs. There are also fewer people coming to visit the shelter and therefore fewer adoptions. The direct consequence is that my shelter is overcrowded.

Competition has already started, the stronger dogs eat the food of the weaker ones. The weaker ones lose more weight. The dogs fight all the time and end up getting injured. The future of my shelter and my dogs is very uncertain... It's really not easy to manage a shelter of 200 dogs all alone, without donations.

That's why I have already had to cut back on rescues, I can only take in the dogs that are in the most danger (amputees etc)... I feel great despair and sadness towards these poor animals, because of my lack of means, I now find it difficult to help and take care of them."

3. Because of the lack of food, Caramel is getting weaker every day...

###

"Caramel is a small abandoned poodle. I took her into my shelter 3 years ago. Because of the lack of food, Caramel has lost a lot of weight, she has become too weak, she catches diseases more often and she doesn't move like she used to.

If the lack of food persists, I fear that she will get serious illnesses or infections or that her immunity will weaken even more".

4. Affected by the drop in donations, Elise no longer knows how to carry on. If the situation persists, the future of the dogs is compromised...

###

"We currently have a few sponsorships for our dogs; and because the association is recognized as a public utility by the Moroccan state, we used to receive a grant, but unfortunately because of this pandemic, we haven't received it.

My husband helps me finance my shelter but I have a very high number of dogs that I have to feed. And there are many expenses to run a shelter, the purchase of cleaning products, the salary of the shelter's guards, etc...

I have debts at the vets' as well so at the moment I treat the dogs on credit. I feel helpless about the situation. I try to knock on as many doors as possible to collect donations, I run around asking for and seeking help. One thing is sure, without money and donations I will never be able to get out of this situation".

5. Elise isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep her dogs from starving!

###

"I help street dogs, I take them in the shelter, treat them, care for them... When I see their condition improving, it is a great joy for me. This joy is total when I can find a family for them, who will adopt them and take care of them.

I also take care of the dogs of poor people, or I give them kibble, my association is unique in this sense. I would like to be able to keep like that for the years to come or at least manage to end this year with the least amount of debts and damage possible...

The financing of the refuge doesn't only revolve around food, but also on the purchase of medicines, care... If I don't get help, I will have to stop all new rescues, and prioritize the dogs who are already at the shelter".

6. If this campaign is successful, Elise will not receive any money but 3 000 kg of kibble will be delivered to them from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco, still active despite the confinement, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Despite her perseverance, the help Elise receives is not enough. She can no longer buy croquettes!

"I can't cope anymore because of the lack of money. Bouskoura and Casablanca have also been placed on the red list of cities at risk with a lockdown obligation, so people don't come to visit the shelter anymore and consequently we don't receive any food donations for the dogs.

And people who used to send us donations have also stopped doing so since the containment and the pandemic affected their monthly income. Our shelter is currently suffering from all sides, we are lacking everything and have a huge number of dogs".

8. Actions launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The organizer doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies . It is very difficult to find funding for kibbles, many dogs remain starving on the street!

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Elise, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch.
