1. In Romania, Oliviu has just avoided the worst for the 220 dogs in his shelter, threatened with eviction. Now sheltered, they risk starvation for lack of food!

%%%

"By September 30 all the dogs had to be evacuated in new kennels, due to a deadline imposed by the new owner of the old location. Thankfully the deadline has been moved to October 31st, which gave us a bit more time to finish the work and be able to move everyone. But there has been all sorts of hurdles coming up, and it has drained all the resources I could possibly have.

All our funding comes from donations. Things are a bit tight right now and have been like this this year, especially since the pandemic began. I cannot think about not being able to get food for them, I absolutly have to keep them fed. I would be an emotional wreck if I weren’t able to feed the dogs.

Right now I only have food for two more days. I’m struggling to keep everything running and care for all the dogs as best as I can. But I can’t handle everything on my own because unfortunately I’m only human. I already devote all my time to over 200 souls, I am doing my best."

2. Without kibbles, Oliviu will no longer be able to take in dogs in need, who will remain suffering in the street.

###

"Unfortunately, there are already dogs in distress that I cannot rescue. The lack of money for supplies, medical help, or help at the shelter doesn’t allow me to save as many dogs as I could. And if the struggle with food keeps on, we probably won't be able to take on any more dogs.

There are many dogs abandoned on the streets and around Craiova, so it definitely makes a difference if we can save them and give them shelter, food, and love. If they get adopted, then that’s amazing, they can live good lives with new families instead of being on the streets."

3. Thrown over the shelter's fence in the middle of the pandemic, Cortizon is only a few months old and already ill, she needs kibble.

###

"Cortizon is only 6 months old, she is still very young. She was thrown over the fence of the shelter a few months ago, this spring. She suffers from a skin disease caused by a fungus, that requires treatment on the long run.

Between her young age and her sickness, she needs to be well fed, otherwise there is no hope for us to get any better."

4. For 12 years Oliviu has been fighting tirelessly for abandoned dogs. But difficulties have followed one another in the last few months and prevent him from buying kibbles.

###

"I'm having a difficult time, there's just not enough money for me to buy food. Like I said, we rely on donations, so I’d say about 70% goes to feeding the dogs and the rest is for medical emergencies or work around the shelter. That’s pretty much everything.

I already had to borrow money to be able to move the dogs on time, and also for medications. I have about 2000 euros debts, and although there has been a bit more donations lately due to the deadline to move the dogs, it barely keeps us afloat.

I hope that things will improve soon, especially because winter is coming. I am very concerned and stressed, but I am also determined to do everything I can."

5. Oliviu is not asking for money, only kibbles to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"The organization was founded in 2008. I’ve always loved dogs and I can’t just sit by and watch them being abandoned and dying on the streets. I knew I could help and that’s what I try every day. I haven’t had a day off in 9 years, they are my life.

I hope someday I’ll be able to not worry about food or medicine and I would very much like to expand the shelter and provide the dogs with better living conditions. I’d say I really need more people to help around the shelter.

Thankfully dogs are still getting adopted, we even send some to other countries like the UK and Germany. I’m pretty satisfied with how adoptions went this past year, we’ve even had dogs adopted that had been here for years. I think if I could work more on the shelter and get it to look nicer, people would also be more willing to come see the dogs and adopt."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Oliviu will not receive any money but 3600 kg of kibbles, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistics platform in Romania.

Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Romania which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Oliviu's calls for help have not been totally in vain, but their fruits remain negligible compared to the needs of the 220 dogs.

"We got help from an organization in Dortmund about one month ago, they sent us some food, which was so helpful already, but they can only send so much.

There is not much else to say, this is all we have, there are no ongoing sponsors or partnerships to speak of. We've been getting a bit more donations thanks to the calls for help to respect the deadline for moving the dogs, but nothing compared to the costs induced."

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Romania, it is difficult to find funds for kibbles, there are no aid, no grants, no foundation... Many abandoned dogs die alone in the streets, in complete indifference...

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Oliviu, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch with each other.

If you represent a Foundation or an NGO for animal protection, please help Oliviu's dogs contact us, we will put you in touch!
