Animal Webaction visited the site 19 October 2020 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Romania, Roxana has almost no more kibble left for the 50 dogs at the shelter, they might starve!

%%%

"There are 50 dogs at our shelter, and only less than 10 have sponsors... There are days when the food is limited, so I resort to ration the portions for everyone to be able to get food. We can only buy food on a daily basis or every two days depending on the amount of money we have, we never know what tomorrow will bring.

Today, we have 4 bags of food, tomorrow we'll need to buy a few bags, but we need to have money for it. Food is a vital need. Dogs will die without it. I am always on the run thinking about securing this part because there is not anything more important than that. I worry about that all the time because I want to be assured that there will be food every day for them.

I do not want to even think about the consequences of a food shortage, or imagine that happening. My mind is focused on searching all the time for means to secure food for them."

2. Without kibble, Roxana will no longer be able to save the dogs from the neighbouring pounds, they will be euthanized.

###

"The situation of dogs in the area is very bad. There are a lot of public shelters, which keep the dogs in bad conditions, and practice euthanasia. As long as we are in capacity to save them, we try as much as possible to do that.

I fear not being able to help as I do now. We were already not able to take some dogs because of lack of enough resources and also limited space of the shelter that hinders rescuing more dogs whether on the streets or at the pounds.

I am afraid of not being ready when there is a sick dog or a dog in a very dangerous situation, as it happens, and I might not be able to do anything about it. My heart aches when I see dogs suffering and I cannot help them or take them in because of space and low resources."

3. Recently rescued, Benson is still ill and very fragile, he absolutely needs kibble.

###

"Benson was initially bought from a breeder, and then handed over to someone else. This person kept him for a while, then left abroad to work and left the dog. Someone found him, and came to us.

He has serious condition of demodex, meaning he was neglected during a long time. He also has a small injury at his left eye, and conjunctivitis to the right eye. We haven't been able to neuter him yet, because his  immunity is very low due to his condition, so i just kept him in our shelter to heal him first, then to neuter him and find him a good home."

4. For the past 7 years, Roxana and her husband have devoted their time and money to abandoned dogs. But the economic situation no longer allows them to buy kibble!

###

"At our shelter, we feed them and treat them if they are sick with the capabilities we have. One of the difficulties we encounter is the daily search and worry about food for dogs.

We have less funding than before. I guess the reason behind that is the Pandemic since the financial situation for everyone is worse than before, so that reflected negatively on donations.

We buy from our own pocket as much as we can, but on our own, it is hard to manage because of financial limitations. We simply do not have enough money. That’s why I need the help of other organizations and people, and I always try to put the best effort to make that possible, but we really need help right now."

5. Roxana is not asking for money, only kibbles to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"I liked animals from an early age. It took a stronger turn in 2013, in the fall, when that law appeared that gave the municipalities the right to decide whether to euthanize or not. They kind of decided to euthanize and kill the dogs and make the shelters public, then, I became more serious than ever and I wanted to help more.

I started the association in 2014 officially. I looked for a place for the shelter in more than one area until I found this one here (Branisca).  We stayed, we established, we strengthened some links with some associations from England and France until we got to where we are today.

I hope to keep doing this until that day come where there are no dogs in the street because dogs do not want to be in the street if they had a choice. They want food in the first place, and a home with love."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Roxana will not receive any money but 1800 kg of kibbles, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistic platform in Romania.

Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Romania which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Her calls for help are not working, Roxana needs this campaign to be able to continue.

"Always, on our Facebook page we try to promote the dogs to have as many adoptions as possible, and we ask for help. We still receive some donations, but not in a fixed amount, nor in a fixed date, and not enough...

I reached out to many other organisations, and am in contact with two from England and France, which means a lot, but there is no way for them to handle the needs of our shelter. From Romania, I am not aware if there are such organization that helps places like our shelter. Honestly, I never heard of local organizations here."

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Romania, it is difficult to find funds for kibbles, there are no aid, no grants, no foundation... Many abandoned dogs die alone in the streets, in complete indifference...

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Roxana, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch.

If you represent an animal protection foundation or NGO, please help Roxana's dogs, contact us and we will put you in touch!
