Animal Webaction visited the site 31 October 2020 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Sally will soon run out of kibble to feed the street dogs. They rely on her help, and will starve if no one intervenes!

%%%

"The situation is bad for the abandoned dogs, they are numerous in the city, and only very few people take care of them. We have about 600 dogs in the street that we feed on a daily basis. Their number is increasing, I always find dogs on the streets sick and malnourished, and people are contacting me a lot to save dogs in a difficult situation.

The budget for food for dogs is therefore increasing daily, I just can't find enough food for them to eat their fill. We know that food is one of the basics of living for both humans and animals, without it we will not be able to live, and our health will deteriorate and we will definitely die, which is exactly what will happen to these animals if they cannot eat.

I am very afraid about the uncertainty of being able to find enough food for them, especially knowing that Moroccan society doesn’t have the culture of caring for dogs and feeding them. This really makes me feel as if I cannot feed my children."

2. At eight months old, Cesar has already experienced malnutrition and illness. He won't be able to manage on his own if Sally can't bring him any more kibbles.

###

"Cesar is still very young, only 8 months old. I've been caring for him for the past 7 months now. He was suffering from Mange and malnutrition when we first found him.

He is doing better now but still lives on the street, and relies on me to eat every day. Cesar is spayed and vaccinated, and totally unable to fend for himself if we don't care for him and feed him anymore.

We must protect these dogs, for their own sake, but also for the one of others, animals and humans. A dog that has been spayed and vaccinated, what we call a TNVT dog, is one that will be forever safe from rabies, that will never have babies, a dog that can be accepted by the population, keep the territory safe and prevent cullings."

3. Sally's shelter is home to 500 dogs, who are also threatened by the lack of kibble.

%%%

"We have 500 dogs at the shelter at this moment. They don't eat enough these days, as I am forced to serve food in limited quantity.

Since this epidemic began to spread, I have received very little aid. I fear that dogs will be affected by the crisis that the world lives in today and this makes me sad.

Most of my fears are related to the inability to provide food and medical care for dogs, and here comes the role of the shelter in providing all the necessary supplies for dogs. We really need more assistance, wheather from institutions or individuals, to keep going and be able to shelter the largest number of dogs."

4. Abandoned while pregnant, sick and malnourished, Looka's suffered a lot, and needs kibbles to recover.

###

"Looka was found on the road, pregnant and sick because of a lack of food. She gave birth to her pups, who were luckily in good health.

She herself is still improving, she had surgery recently to neuter her, and fix a massive infection in her uterus. Food is really important for her to get better."

5. Heavily affected by the decline in donations, Sally struggles to keep on caring for the dogs. But she has accumulated debts and can no longer buy kibble!

###

"We rely 100% on donations. Sadly as everyone else, the COVID-19 has affected us hugely as we are receiving a lot less donations. We have not only our animals in the sanctuary to feed but also all our tagged dogs, strays, dogs belonging to poor families.

I can’t cope with everything on my own : I buy water because there is no water in the sanctuary , ectricity is too expensive, the sanctuary linens must be washed so I bring them back to my mother's house, I also have to pay the employees, and I have a debt of several thousands of euros at the food supplier, as well as the veterinarian...

I simply can’t see a sick dog without doing anything, especially if because of the lack of food, it would hurt me so much."

6. Sally is not asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"I have been passionate about dogs since my childhood, I thought that I will change the situation of animals in my city one day, I sold all my goods to start SFT, and it is the dream of childhood to pick up all animals in a shelter.

I take care of these dogs, at the shelter and on the street, so that they remain in good health. Some of them need special care and medical supervision, which costs a lot, and I'm always in need for food to feed them. Of course food alone is not enough to save them, but it is the basis for everything, if I don't have it I can't do anything for them.

For me, if I can save the life of one animal, this is great. I was born to save animals and be their voice in society. All I need is some support to be able to protect them always and in all the situations, they also deserve care."

7. If this campaign succeeds, Sally will not receive any money but 3000 kg of kibble, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

8. Applications to international organisations, calls for help on social networks, Sally does her best but cannot find a solution to keep on feeding the abandoned dogs.

"Every day I find a case that needs psychological and medical care, and this is so difficult for me financially, and especially in this period. Because of covid-19, we know people who lose their jobs they can't afford to help us. This new economic situation that the world lives in has repercussions everywhere.

Of course we have already tried to reach out to other organizations, but truth is that most of them contribute towards sterilization, not food. Don't get me wrong, sterilization is a must and an essential thing for which I fight through the Hayat Project that I initiated in Tangier. Through this, we've spayed and vaccinated thousands of dogs, protecting them, but also protecting the population againts rabies. But these dogs need us to feed them as well, without us they would simply starve."

9. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.
