Animal Webaction visited the site 10 December 2020 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Romania, Ildiko will soon run out of kibble to feed the 250 dogs at her shelter. If no one does anything, they will starve !

"Since I've opened the shelter back in 2015, I don’t think I have ever had such a bad year. We found so many stray dogs and hurt dogs on the streets, I just couldn’t believe it. We try to help as many as we can but the pandemic has put us in a situation we had never experienced before.

There are now 250 dogs at the shelter, plus 21 at my home and we have months where there are almost no donations... My family’s income has taken a hit as well so there is a BIG lack of funds. I have had to ration the food on and off all year due to this situation.

Bread donations from local bakeries is how we manage to survive. I live with the constant fear that I won’t be able to feed the dogs. This feeling is only amplified now that winter is starting. The dogs have already lost weight... I am losing sleep trying to find solutions..."

2. Without kibbles, the many sick and injured dogs at Ildiko's shelter won't survive the winter...

###

"Most of the newcomers at the shelter are either underweight, puppies or sick... The consequences of a prolonged lack of kibbles for them can be a disaster. The sick dogs need nutrients and energy to heal. The puppies need food to grow well and avoid developing health issues.

Winter is starting now and when it’s cold and the dogs are hungry in the shelter, they are more prone to being agressive. We’ve already had fights in the kennels. Not many, but enough to get me worried...

These dogs are my heart and soul and when hard times like these hit us, it breaks my heart not being able to give them the best possible care. I need this campaign to succeed so I can feed the dogs during the winter, which is always harder than any of the other seasons."

3.  Rescued a few days ago and severely underweight, Ursu needs kibble to recover!

###

"Ursu is a 3-year-old male. We found and rescued him a few days ago, by the side of the road outside of the city. He was covered in fleas, ticks, very underweight and scared.

He is a bit shy, and doesn’t seem very trusting with strangers. He was probably traumatised by everything he's been through recently...

Ursu is very skinny still, he really needs to be fed to regain his strength and body mass. My only wish is for him to be healthy and happy soon. But without a new stock of kibble, he won't be able to achieve that".

4. The pandemic has sharply reduced Ildiko's donations. She can no longer buy kibble!

###

"The biggest challenge we’ve encountered all year round has been the lack of donations. It's been extremely difficult. People are more and more careful on how they spend their money due to the pandemic.

I've also seen 2 members of my family lose their jobs, so they cannot contribute as much as they used to.  Unfortunately I don’t see either of these things changing anytime soon...

The biggest amount of debt I have is to the vet clinic. We had surgeries, sterilizations, vaccines. My biggest priority right now is to find food fo the dogs... I am worried I will end up in a situation where they will have nothing, absolutely nothing to eat."

5. Ildiko isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving!

###

"I have loved dogs my entire life. As a child, I remember I would always bring stray dogs at home and try to take care of them. I just couldn’t walk away from a harmless soul that needed help. Many years later, that obviously hasn't changed : my house is always full of dogs!

Animals Shields started five years ago and since then it has become my priority, and the biggest rescue in the area. The abandonment rate keeps rising unfortunately and not only for mixed breeds, but pure breeds as well.

I wish other people could see that these dogs are wonderful creatures, loyal and caring and they deserve to have a home and safe space... Adopt more is my message to everyone out there."

6. If this campaign is successful, Ildiko will not receive any money but 3600 kg of kibble will be delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Romania.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Romania, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Ildiko has been calling for help for weeks, without much success. This campaign is her last hope.

"This whole year, there has been a significant drop in donations, most likely linked to the pandemic. We've been relying a lot on Animal Webaction campaigns due to the situation.

I am frustrated. I feel sad and helpless, which is why I am reaching out to everyone I know. I really need your support to keep going."

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Romania, it is difficult to find funds for kibbles, there are no aid, no grants, no foundation... Many abandoned dogs die alone in the streets, in complete indifference...

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Ildiko, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch.

If you represent an animal protection foundation or NGO, please help Ildiko's dogs, contact us and we will put you in touch!

If you want to come to Ildiko's shelter or if you want to send her directly some kibbles or a check, contact her via her association on Facebook (note: direct help is under your own responsibility).
