Animal Webaction visited the site 19 December 2020 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Hajar is almost out of kibble to feed the stray cats, which have been massively abandoned since the pandemic. They are at risk of starving!

%%%

"Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of abandoned cats has increased dramatically. I am currently feeding about 60 of them in the streets.

Here in Salé, there are almost no associations dedicated to animal protection, I'm fighting alone for these cats. Unfortunately, I can no longer manage everything due to lack of money and donations. I have 20 kilos of kibble left now, and I unfortunately I can't buy any more because I just don't have the money to do so.

Neither the street cats or those in my shelter have enough to eat. If I don't find a solution quickly, I won't be able to feed them at all or help them any more... There are constantly new cats in distress on the streets, they need us."

2. Weakened by scabies and exhausted by life on the street, Bruno needs kibble to survive.

###

"Bruno is a male of about two years old. I found him around my neighbourhood during containment. He suffers from scabies. To strengthen his immunity and to be able to heal, he needs to eat.

Without kibble, I am afraid he will lose more weight or get infections from eating out of the garbage.

Bruno is one of the many stray cats that I can't take with me to the shelter at the moment due to lack of means. Getting a steady amount of kibble would already help him a lot".

3. Hajar also has 46 cats in her home. Without food, they too are in danger!

%%%

"During the health crisis, there was a wave of abandoned animals, I had to boost and extend my action to the other neighbourhoods of Salé, to save as many cats as possible. I found myself with a saturated shelter that is no longer emptying because adoptions are at a standstill.

I am in despair, the future of my shelter and the fate of my cats worries me. I don't have enough means, I find myself powerless to provide for them. I am afraid that my cats will get sick, catch infections or die of hunger because of malnutrition or poor quality food, which I am sometimes forced to give them for lack of anything better.

My action is necessary because I welcome these stray cats into my home, take care of them and save them from the street and from human cruelty. I also do my utmost to find them a family that will make them happy. But all these efforts will be in vain if I can't find food for them".

4. At only 2 months old, Angela has a number of health problems. Without kibbles, she won't survive.

###

"Angela is a 2-month-old female cat. I found her in the streets of Salé a few days ago. She has a multitude of problems: she is underweight, suffers from Coryza, she has scabies and acute diarrhoea.

I took her to the vet who prescribed her a symptomatic treatment but without kibble, her immunity will weaken and I fear that her condition will relapse. She needs to eat in order to recover".

5. Hajar lost her job due to the pandemic, and receives very few donations. Despite her efforts, she is no longer able to buy kibble.

###

"I usually buy the kibbles with my own salary but because of the pandemic, I've lost my job. I have an occasional job as a make-up artist, but it's not enough to buy food for the cats. I don't receive as many donations as I used to either ...

I act alone, I don't have any grants or organisations that help me. I have bills everywhere and I'm afraid I won't be able to pay off my debts. I try to do my best to provide for my cats but the situation has become really critical.

I am forced to postpone some surgeries due to lack of funds. My number one priority right now is to be able to feed them".

6. Hajar is not asking for money, only kibbles to keep the cats from starving.

###

"I've always held an interest in animals, even when I was little. Over time, my commitment to the cause of stray cats and dogs has only grown stronger.

My work consists of feeding and welcoming cats in distress, spaying and neutering them, caring for them and finding a family to adopt them. Even if at first glance one might think the opposite, for me, it is these cats that are saving me...

In the region, there are very few associations that have made it their mission to help stray cats and those who have are overwhelmed with requests for help, it's very complicated".

7. If this campaign succeeds, Hajar will receive not money but 1140 kg of kibbles, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Morocco, which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

8. Hajar help - doesn't manage to find additional help, the only foreign association supporting her also asks us to intervene.

"The longer the crisis lasts, the more people face new difficulties, some people are partially unemployed, and receive only half of their wages, while others have lost their jobs altogether.

This means that my donations are falling and if the situation continues, I don't know how I'll be able to feed my cats... Any help is welcome".

9. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

10. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies . It is very difficult to find funding for kibbles, many cats remain starving on the street!
