Animal Webaction visited the site 14 January 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Romania, Gabriela has almost no kibble left to feed the 70 puppies under her care. If no one takes action, they could starve!

%%%

"The situation in the area is awful, there are too many abandoned puppies and people don’t care about them at all. At the moment I have 70 puppies under my care, the vast majority of which have been abandonned.

In most cases, the mothers had owners and the owners didn't think of spaying them of course... So when they had litters, the owners just abandonned the puppies... I rescued the puppies otherwise the owners would have killed them...

At this moment I have 3 bags of puppy food left. Because of the lack of funds, I cannot buy any more. I've been able to manage until now, but I don't know what will happen this time when the food ends..."

2. Gabriela receives calls from all over, asking her to rescue more puppies. Unfortunately, due to lack of funds and food, she is unable to take any more.

###

"I am at maximum capacity now at the shelter. I feel powerless because I can't take any more dogs or puppies but I always have requests from people to take more dogs...

I beg those people to take the dogs into foster, to keep them until they can be immunized from potential diseases. Unfortunately, the calls for help I post on my Facebook page are ignored most of the time, people don't help much...

I try to help every dog or puppy that needs help, I try my best not to let any of them down, but I can't do too much on my own. If I don't find food soon, the puppies will no longer have enough to eat, and they will get sick."

3. Rescued from the streets where his mother was ran over, Triton is now under treatment for a severe fungal infection.  Without kibble, he won't recover!

###

"Triton is a 2-month-old male. He's been in the shelter since November. His mother was ran over by a car, so I took him and his brothers to the shelter.

He is more vulnerable than the other puppies because he has a fungal infection. His 7 other siblings actually have the same problem...

Any lack of food would be strongly detrimental to his recovery. He needs a good diet paired with the treatment I am giving him."

4. Affected by the drop in donations, indebted to the vets, Gabriela can no longer rely on her personal funds to buy food for the puppies.

###

"Donations are non-existent in the area because first of all, it is a poor city and secondly, people who do have money, prefer to spend it on something else. Most people here don't care about dogs at all. The vast majority of donations I receive are from people who live in wealthier parts of Romania, like Bucharest, Cluj...

Sometimes I do receive local help. Someone recently brought me 2 bales of straw for the dogs for example. Food donations however, remain very rare. And generally speaking, donations have dropped by a lot since the pandemic started.

Unfortunately, I do not have sponsors to support my rescue efforts, so I rely mostly on my personal funds and on the few donations I receive. I now have a 1000 euro debt at the vet's for surgeries and treatments of the puppies. I'm really afraid the lack of donations will continue in the coming months..."

5. Gabriela isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep the puppies from starving!

###

"I've loved animals since as far as I can remember, and I've been saving them for over 20 years. Last year I started the association to save dogs in the Victoria area, because it's where I am from and I realised animal welfare associations are almost non existent here. Before moving here, I was helping animals in Bucharest.

Although the pandemic has brought many troubles, it also had positive consequences for me because I had to work from home, which means I now have more time to take care of the puppies. Another positive consequence was that the number of adoptions actually increased, I guess people ending up staying home a lot more, and decided now was a good time to adopt.

Last year, I managed to send 60 dogs for adoption to their foverer home, that makes me the proudest. We also managed to sterilize over 300 dogs. I've always answered present to help animals and I wish to continue doing so for many years. But for that, I need some exterior help."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Gabriela will not receive any money but 1800 kg of kibbles, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistics platform in Romania.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Romania, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Despite her efforts, Gabriela's calls for help remain mostly unanswered. She can no longer buy kibble for the puppies!

"For all associations that have animals under their care, the current times are very uncertain. For my association in particular, having been registered only last year, our community is almost nonexistent.

I am doing the best I can to try and change that, to build a community, to have more people help out. That's why I am reaching out to foreign organisations like yours. It helps me make my rescue calls more public, little by little."

8. Actions launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The organizer doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Romania, it is difficult to find funds for kibbles, there are no aid, no grants, no foundation... Many abandoned dogs die alone in the streets, in complete indifference...

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Gabriela please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch with each other.

If you represent a Foundation or NGO for animal protection, please help Gabriela's puppies, contact us and we will put you in touch!
