1. She had debris in her bone

Perle lives outside. Someone shot her repeatedly with lead shot, intending to kill her!

She had debris in the shoulder bone and she's still limping. While she's recovering, she's on antibiotics.

2. Blankets will keep her from the cold

Perle can't move too much. Even afterwards, she will have to be protected from the cold and no longer sleep directly on the ground. That's what the blankets are for.
