"Following sanitation work in our commune, rats came to colonise the cat shelters and the places where we used to store food... As a result, we no longer have anything to feed our cats!
We have been traumatised by this invasion which we have largely had to deal with on our own, but we can't give up, the 34 cats we take care of are counting on us! Some of them don't even have a shelter anymore. They have no one else to look after them and would starve to death if we gave up...".
"Shelters, greenhouses, blankets, kibbles, cans of wet food... the rats devastated everything! They made nests and dug galleries all over our land. The electric wires of our car were even gnawed, forcing us to scrap it (we couldn't afford to pay €3,000 for repairs).
It cost us more than 1,100 € before we managed to repel these hundreds of rodents. They had urinated and left droppings everywhere... Everything is destroyed or to be thrown away!
We are sad, traumatised and isolated following this disaster... The cold is intensifying and we lack solutions to help the free cats. We need your help!"
"Capucine is 7 years old, we took her from the pound around 4 years ago. The poor thing got sick with calicivirus last year and it's not going away. Her gums are extremely sore and she has a lot of trouble eating...
It is impossible for her to chew kibble. Without canned food and with the cold weather coming, we fear she won't make it through the winter!"
"The year 2020 has been complicated for us, given the health situation and its economic repercussions... In this context of uncertainty, it has become difficult for people to make as many donations as before, and it is more complicated to organise in-store collections. We now have no choice but to operate on a day-to-day basis...
Yet there are still so many cats in distress. We recently had to take care of 3 kittens and other cats with calicivirus. To pay for their veterinary care, we went into debt by making loans... This posture is becoming more and more untenable!"
"For 37 years, I have spent most of my time caring for animals. Creating an association was an obvious choice for me. I wanted to protect feral cats legally and help them.
The rat invasion put my husband and I in great distress. We are traumatised and would have preferred to move. But the cats only have us. So despite the difficulties, we will not give up!"
