Animal Webaction visited the site 07 February 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Romania, Valentina is out of kibble to feed the 57 puppies at her shelter. They will starve if no one helps them!

%%%

"The capacity of the shelter has long been over-exceeded… We now have 57 puppies, 17 of which came directly from kill shelters. The rest of them were found abandoned on the streets, in villages, forests or fields... And people keep bringing me more and more:  I often find litters of puppies right on my doorstep…

The increased number of puppies has led to a work overload, but more importantly to a higher need for puppy food.  Our current needs in puppy food far exceed our available ressources... Puppy food is the most expensive type of food there is. Due to my current lack of funds, I cannot afford it so food stress only keeps growing...

I have no dry food left whatsoever for the puppies. For the moment, I make-do by buying bits of chicken that I mix with rice, but I only have enough of that for the next 2 days... The situation is so stressful that I wake up at night wondering what to do next."

2. Valentina has had to postpone some of the puppies' treatments due to lack of funds. Without kibbles, their health condition will deteriorate!

###

“Every dog needs to eat more now with the cold weather, and puppies are no exception. They are the most vulnerable ones to lack of proper nutrition, the most likely ones to catch diseases.

Many of the puppies I’ve rescued came here with some health problems to begin with, probably due to their living conditions on the streets, or… maybe their condition is what got them abandoned in the first place, we cannot know for certain.

Keeping them healthy is always my priority, but my current lack of resources is forcing me to make difficult decisions. I’ve already had to postpone some treatments and tests that my puppies so badly need…Without a new stock of kibbles, I’m afraid the puppies’ already fragile health condition will worsen..."

3. Kiwi was abandoned at just two months old. Undernourished, he needs kibble to become a healthy grown dog.

###

"I found Kiwi on the street alongside her mom when he was only two months old. They had been abandoned there... I rescued them both.

Kiwi has been unwell for weeks: he suffers from demodicosis, so his fur keeps peeling off. His immune defenses are very low. He needs kibble, otherwise his health definitely won't improve and he risks catching more diseases..."

4. Valentina spends all her resources on the shelter but it's still not enough. She can no longer buy kibbles for the puppies!

###

"Since the pandemic started, people have felt even less concerned about animal welfare. We have very few donations, only the odd ones, usually when people bring us dogs over...

The only association that used to help me with food also had to stop because of transporting issues. Local associations cannot help me either because they are overloaded with work themselves.

All my income goes into into supporting the shelter's expenses. My husband helps me as well, but even  by joining our resources, it is still not enough : I currently have debts at the vet's... We need some help to be able to continue caring for the puppies."

5. Valentina isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep the puppies from starving!

"I once had a tragedy in my family and adopting a dog saved me from depression. So I started rescuing dogs and opened the shelter 3 years ago.

I never pick and choose. Abandoned dogs have no real chance on the street, so I rescue everyone, even the less "adoptable” ones, who very often come from kill shelters and are especially traumatized.

I deeply regret that animal welfare laws are not obeyed in my country, but by running this shelter, I hope I'm doing some good in the world."

6. If this campaign is successful, Valentina will not receive any money but 1200 kg of kibble will be delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Romania.

delivery

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Romania, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Donations and external help have been even scarcer lately. Valentina needs this campaign to succeed.

helpneeded

"I do get help from abroad, through two networks in England and Belgium. But they help with adoption, not with food, and even so the numbers of abandoned puppies is skyrocketing...

It would be great if people could donate more to help us out. Not necessarily donations in money, but donations in food. Because there is no association around to help me out in that regard."

8. Actions launched on Animal Webaction often fail...

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The organizer doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Romania, it is difficult to find funds for kibbles, there are no aid, no grants, no foundation... Many abandoned dogs die alone in the streets, in complete indifference...

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Valentina, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch.

If you represent an animal protection foundation or NGO, please help Valentina's dogs, contact us and we will put you in touch!
