1. In Bosnia, Svjetlana will soon run out of kibble to feed the 157 dogs at her shelter. They will starve if no one helps them!

"The pandemic has disrupted our transports with the Netherlands, which is where 99% of our adoptions take place. We've never had fewer adoptions... Our shelter is completely overcrowded and we are getting low on food.

Right now we have 160 kilos of food left for the dogs. This should last around 2-3 days max. After that, I’m not sure how I will manage to feed all the dogs in shelter.

Not being able to know if we'll have enough food for the dogs in such a short amount of time is extremely frustrating and scary. Especially during winter, as it's cold outside and the dogs need more energy to keep warm."

2. In the region, local hunters target stray dogs...Without a new stock of kibble, Svjetlana will no longer be able to save the dogs shot by hunters!

###

"There is huge number of abandoned dogs in the area but unfortunately, because of the overcrowdedness and the current lack of food in the shelter, there are many we can't help right now. This makes me sad, frustrated, worried...

Here, local hunters get free bullets from hunting associations to kill stray dogs...If I do not manage to rescue them, hunters will surely kill them. I have love for dogs, I want to help them, but I can’t do this on my own. If we fight together, we can continue to save as many unhappy and abandoned Bosnian dogs as possible.

I also have 157 mouths to feed at the shelter, who all count on me... If I don't find food for them, the consequences will be sickness, starvation, denutrition... We must not let this happen."

3. Eva has lived all her life in the shelter. Among the most vulnerable dogs due to her old age and frailness, she needs kibble to survive!

###

"Eva has lived at the shelter all her life...She and her family were brought by one man from Tesanj, a town that's 100 km away from the shelter.

She is the sweetest dog, but over the years, no one has ever been interested in adopting her, I really don't know why. Eva is really skinny and is in my opinion, the weakest dog in the shelter. Without food, she wouldn't last long..."

4. Despite all her efforts to maintain the shelter, Svjetlana is indebted and can no longer buy kibble for the dogs!

"We have many problems at the shelter : we lack construction material for making new enclosures for dogs, material for bedding (straw and sawdust...), but the lack of food remains our biggest problem.

Unfortunately, in Bosnia, people think donating for dogs is wasted money. The only donations we receive are from the Dutch organisation we collaborate with. I've tried to reach out to individual people to seek help, but with no luck.

Our expenses far exceed our resources and I have huge debts all over, especially for veterinary expenses and food, but also for fuel, electricity...All of this worries me a lot, my mental health is not like it used to be, because of the problems piling up and our financial situation..."

5. Svjetlana isn't asking for money, only kibble to feed her dogs!

###

"Dogs are my passion and I give my best to help them and make them happier. I put all my time in this shelter, which I started 16 years ago. My proudest accomplishment is having built the shelter and managed to keep it alive over the years. And most of all, to have succeeded in sending more than 600 dogs for adoption abroad...

I truly believe that if everyone got involved, including the local community, there would be less dogs on the streets, more dogs with a roof over their heads, and food in their stomach. But the truth is, the vast majority of people here don't care to fight for animals so I'm alone in this.

Unfortunately, I'm not getting any younger, I have health issues and I don’t know how long I will be able to keep working with this intensity. I am afraid there won't be anyone to continue my work, no one to devote themselves to animals. I don’t see a bright future for this shelter..."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Svjetlana will not receive any money but 2160 kg of kibbles, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistic platform in Bosnia.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Bosnia which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Svjetlana tries to seek help by all means, but her supporters have already done their best.

"There aren't many organizations within close range of our own ,so we are alone to deal with all the issues Moreover, here people and the government, don’t have apprehension for this kind of work.

That being said, I know there are people out there who care, and I truly believe that if we all come together, we can save many more little paws and find them happy homes.

Your support  will give me the strength to carry on. We hope you will respond and join this action. Our snouts would be very grateful!"
