Animal Webaction visited the site 16 February 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Sally is running out of kibble to feed the 450 dogs in her sanctuary. They will starve unless someone intervenes!

"At the moment, we have more than 450 dogs at our sanctuary. There is a big problem of stray dogs in Tangier, and we keep finding more and more dogs in distress. We are trying to provide everything the dogs need, but it is a constant struggle to find money for food.

We are receiving less and less donations and we don't have any money left to buy food for all the dogs. Now, we only have kibble for a few days left, and we urgently need to find more... but we are out of options.

The lack of food scares me. I can't bear the thought of not being able to feed the dogs, I can't watch my little babies go hungry and suffer, it hurts me... If we don't find more kibble soon, a lot of dogs will lose their lives. I hope you will help me feed my babies."

2. In addition to the dogs in the sanctuary, Sally also feeds the many stray dogs in Tangier. If she does not find more kibble soon, they will be the first ones to starve.

"I currently feed more than 2000 stray dogs. I've built a little kennel for them so that they can shelter from the rain and cold, and every morning I visit them to feed them and see if someone needs medical care.

The pandemic has now brought additional hardship on the stray dogs, making them go hungry. It is more difficult for them to find food at their usual sources, like restaurants and trash bins, so we have to go out and feed them kibble.

If we cannot feed the dogs on the streets anymore, they will get sick and die. Personally, I wouldn't be able to handle it."

3. VIP was recently found on the highway, skinny and sick. Without kibble, his recovery will be in jeopardy.

###

"VIP is one year old, and he is one of our most recent rescues. He was found all alone on the highway between Casablanca and Tangier... he was very skinny and obviously suffering from a disease.

We brought him to the vet as he was in such a bad condition. He was full of worms, and he suffers from a skin disease which he still needs to be treated for.

Now, we are preparing VIP to be taken to the sanctuary. Fortunately, he will be able to make a full recovery... but for that to come true we desperately need more kibble so that we can feed him!"

4. Donations have dropped drastically since the pandemic, since many donors have lost their jobs. With debts piling up, Sally has no money to buy kibble.

###

"Due to the pandemic, we have a lack of funding resources, which makes it difficult for us to manage. There were several donors who supported us for years, but they have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus, so they can no longer help us.

We have a lot of expenses, like medication and special care for our sick dogs. We have over 450 dogs now in the shelter, so we need more food than before. I have debts of several thousand euros at the vet's, and I can no longer pay the rent for our association's office. We also owe a lot of money to our food supplier.

The lack of food is a big worry, and it will get worse in the upcoming months, if we cannot find new donors. As long as this lack of donations persists, we will need extra help to buy kibble."

5. Sally is not asking for money, but for kibble to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"SFT was my childhood dream. In 2013, I began to rescue strays from the streets. I would treat, neuter and vaccinate all of the dogs and then take them home. After rescuing more than 50 dogs from the streets, more land was needed, so I moved to an area 23 km outside of Tangier.

Over the years, through hard work and determination, SFT has become a home to over 450 rescued dogs. We still find abandoned dogs every week, and people still call us to save them. We have a strict no-kill policy and offer a loving forever home to all the dogs.

If we don't save the dogs, we will have the same problems that existed before my association was present to rescue them... the dogs will be hungry, sick, and maybe killed. That's why we always need the support of people. I can't handle it all alone."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Sally will not receive any money but 3500 kg of kibble, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistic platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistics center in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Sally and her supporters are doing everything they can, but the donations keep decreasing. They have run out of options and desperately need help.

"Sadly, because of the Covid19 pandemic we are getting less and less donations. We depend on those donations, since we don't receive any aid from the city or the state. There are associations and foundations who contribute towards our sterilization program, but we rely 100% on donations from individuals to pay for medical emergencies and food.

Every day, I post pictures and videos of my dogs on our Facebook page to ask for help, and we have a website through which we collect donations. We also have individuals doing fundraising for us, which is wonderful, but it is just not enough.

The decrease in donations has made things so much more difficult, and I worry that I will not be able to find new funders. It’s a very big worry as so many animals depend on us. This is why we are so desperate for your help."
