1. In Egypt, Hanan is running out of kibble to feed the 550 dogs in her shelter. They will starve if no one helps them!
"As soon as the pandemic started last year, people started throwing their dogs on the streets because of the false belief that dogs can carry and spread the virus... Even expensive breeds of dogs are thrown away because of that misconception.
The number of dogs under our care has increased immensly as a result. We've never had so many dogs and at the same time, our lack of resources is unprecedented. The dogs don't eat enough, the lack of food has already started affecting their health.
Tens of dogs have started to develop skin diseases like mange due to lack of food...I really care for these dogs and it breaks my heart to see them in bad shape. For the first time, I feel helpless,, I feel like I’m paralyzed, unable to care for my dogs..."
2. The current lack of food prevents Hanan from rescuing more dogs... They are starving on the streets.
"Because the food I have is barely enough to feed the dogs at the shelter, it also means I cannot rescue dogs from the streets like I used to...I used to rescue 15-20 dogs per month but now, I can barely do 2...
Yet, there are more dogs in distress on the streets than I can count... I saw 6 dogs paralized on a Facebook post that I kept starring at for 10 minutes, wishing I could save them. Deep down inside, I truly want to save them all but I can't...
It’s a terrible feeling to see a dog in need while being unable to provide for them. This disturbs me a lot, it keeps me awake at night... That’s why I’m trying my best to reach out and get the best help I can... These dogs really need it!"
3. Skinny and affected with mange, Pearls' won't recover without kibbles.
"We rescued Pearls from the street, he has been in the shelter for 9 months now. He got a disease in his brain, called distemper.
All his brothers are dead because of this disease, he’s the only one alive, but the disease left side effects, causing him to not being able to control his nerves.
On top of this, Pearls is very skinny and has mange...We're giving him a treatment but to achieve a complete recovery, he needs food. Any lack of food affects him especially because he's among the most vulnerable dogs we have."
4. The donations have hit an all-time-low. This campaign is Hanan's last hope to feed her dogs!
"Our shelter relies entirely on donations, and although the amount of donations we get has never been high, with the pandemic, it got from bad to worse... This massive drop in donations puts us in a really tough situation. Frankly, it's a disaster...
There’s not enough money to fund our rescue, in terms of food, medicine, treatments... We have debts with our food supplier which we don't manage to solve...And besides the financial aspect of things, we also lost the ability to send dogs abroad during lockdown, which is a big issue.
All these issues are heavily impacting my ability to care for my dogs, to rescue new ones... It's a big concern. I am feeling really scared because these dogs need our help. That’s why I’m trying my best to reach out and get the best help I can."
5. Hanan is not asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving.
"My love for animals started at a very young age.I was raised in a loving and caring family who taught me about animals and how they deserve to live, just like us. I've always believed that animals are here for a reason and they deserve to be loved and cared for.
It's this idea that got me to start this shelter with my partners, 5 years ago. I believe what we do really makes a difference : just seeing a dog's improvement from before / after our rescue, speaks for itself...
Rescuing dogs and see the kind of appreciation you get from it can’t be described in words. It’s very important to get people to support our mission, without a collaborative effort, we will not be able to achieve anything."
6. If this campaign succeeds, Hanan will not receive any money but 2800 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Egypt.

7. Hanan is calling for help, but the situation is not improving, she needs our help.
"Because due to pandemic, lots of people lost their jobs and stopped donating. We had this group of people in Germany who used to cook meals on the streets during weekends and all the profit would go to Furever shelter. But now these activities aren’t alllowed, so we stopped getting these donations as well.
I tried reaching out to another organisations in the US but I haven't got any response from them yet. Frankly, I'm out of options... The success of this campaign will give us the push we need to move forward and overcome this crisis. To help the dogs in need, provide them with enough food and give them a chance to survive..."
