Animal Webaction visited the site 13 April 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Kawthar will soon run out of kibble to feed the 40 street cats under her care. They are in danger of starving to death!

%%%

"The situation for stray cats in Temara is only getting worse: because of the pandemic, there has been a wave of abandonment, many cats have appeared on the streets. I now have to deal with a large number of cats that I need to care for, and that I have to feed with an insufficient budget...

I am facing a lack of kibble, I only have 40 kilos left and I can't afford to buy more. The street cats have already started fighting with each other and eating each other's food...

I feel very sad about this situation... I'm afraid of not being able to find any kibble, this campaign is my only hope. I spend all my energy helping the cats, I will never abandon them, and I would be morally devastated if I couldn't feed them anymore..."

2. Sick and vulnerable, the street cats will not survive if Kawthar can no longer provide them with food.

###

"Street cats are exposed to all sorts of risks, accidents, serious infections... They are therefore particularly vulnerable, and if I don't find any kibble to give them, they risk getting sick and developing infections that could spread very quickly among all the cats in the neighbourhood.

I'm not sure whether I can continue helping them or not, it all depends on the kibble. If I can't find any, I won't be able to feed all the stray cats anymore. It is essential for the campaign to succeed, so that I can continue to feed them..."

3. Abandoned in a dustbin and suffering from coryza, Zoe has already lost an eye. Weakened, he will not be able to resist the lack of kibble.

###

"Zoe is a very young stray cat that I found in a rubbish bin at the beginning of the pandemic, along with his brother and mother. Both he and his brother had contracted coryza. Zoe was able to survive but, unfortunately, his brother lost his life.

Zoe has now lost one eye and can't see well in the other, despite the treatment and vaccine... he couldn't cope with the coryza.

I am afraid this disease may cause his blindness, he needs to eat well to overcome his illness, and to enable us to save his second eye. He is already very weak, without kibble he will not recover..."

4. With the pandemic, donations have collapsed. Kawthar's debts are accumulating and she has no money to buy kibble.

###

"Donations have always been scarce, people here consider humans as the priority and give less for animals. And now, with the pandemic and the economic crisis, donations are almost non-existent.

I try to finance the kibble by selling accessories for animals, and I have friends who help me with donations, but it is not enough to cope with the high number of cats. My debts are piling up, and I am afraid that the vet will stop collaborating with me because of the unpaid bills...

I can't cope with this situation on my own anymore, because of the lack of means. It has never been easy to take care of a large number of cats without help and donations, but now it is more difficult than ever."

5. Kawthar is not asking for money, but for kibble to keep the cats from starving.

###

"I started feeding the stray cats in Temara in 2014. I have sacrificed my time, energy, and money for the welfare of these cats.

My action is indispensable because I am the only one in Temara who ensures the welfare of these cats. I feed them, I look after them, I vaccinate them... in my presence, no one can harm them."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Kawthar will not receive money but 1140 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Morocco, which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.

7. Online fundraising has been unsuccessful, Kawthar has little support, and doesn't know how to get kibble without this campaign.

"I can't find any organisations in Morocco that can help me, and the travel restrictions have also made the situation worse. For example, it has become difficult to send cats for adoption to families in other cities.

I have a Facebook page where we publish calls for adoptions and donations, and I have already tried to collect donations through online fundraising, but unfortunately it did not work. I couldn't raise the target amount.

I hope that this campaign will succeed, so that I can continue my actions and take care of all these abandoned cats... Everything depends on it."

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

9. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibble, many cats are left to starve on the street!
