With a ligament problem, Makila was going to the slaughterhouse!

1. He was going to end up in the slaughterhouse...

Makila is a 22-year-old horse, who was abandoned by his former owners. The poor guy would have ended up in the slaughterhouse if we hadn't stepped in to take care of him!

2. He has a ligament injury!

Makila is suffering from traumatic arthritis. In the area of the fetlock (at the bottom of his legs), his ligaments are damaged. Because of this, he has difficulty moving!

3. Pellets would help him to regain his strength

In order not to let his ligament problem weaken him too much, Makila will need vitamin-rich food. Pellets would be perfect to keep him energized and in good shape until he gets better!

4. We are overwhelmed by unexpected rescues!

Lately we have had to do a lot of rescues that were not planned. Most of the horses we've taken in are old or vulnerable, and absolutely in need of food and care... these are additional expenses, which we struggle to cover on our own!
