1. In France, Michèle has no more kibble to feed the hundred street cats that her association looks after... The poor cats are in danger of starving to death!
"Our association takes care of more than a hundred stray cats, spread across six different villages. Today, we unfortunately have no stock of kibble to feed them. The veterinary costs prevent us from having enough money to buy food.
So we have to buy kibble from our own funds, even though most of us are retired and have little money. The expenses are very high: it is a bottomless pit! We can't go on like this forever...
But what will happen to the cats then? If we don't give them food, they may start to scavenge. Recently, a cat died after suffering from severe diarrhoea and internal bleeding, because he had eaten something he had found... We want to avoid this happening again at all costs!"
2. With the crisis, the number of unsterilized cats is increasing. The association has therefore had to take in many kittens, who will soon need kibble!
"Due to Covid, the number of abandoned cats has increased. Most of them are not sterilised, which means extra veterinary costs. Our budget has dropped considerably because of this.
Not to mention that with the lockdowns, we have not been able to undertake sterilisations as efficiently as usual. As a result, there have been many births. We already have about ten kittens to take care of. We are in a bind! If this continues, we won't make it..."
3. Suffering from a thyroid problem and a heart condition, Zimbaw is very thin... she won't make it without kibble!
"Zimbaw lost her mother the day she was born. Weakened by this loss, she has many health problems: her thyroid is out of balance and she suffers from a heart condition.
These malfunctions cause her to have a severe cough and be very thin. If we don't have any more kibble to give her, poor Zimbaw won't last the summer!"
4. If the stray cats go scavenge for food, we fear that they will again fall victim to malicious people!
"At present, cats are tolerated by the residents. But if they start going through the rubbish to find food, they risk disturbing residents and tourists.
Two years ago, terrible things happened... Some very malicious people had seriously mistreated a cat with a cutter. We filed a complaint, but there were poisoning attempts.
Some people even set snares to catch the cats, at the risk of hurting them. Momo's neck was seriously injured, probably by one of these traps...".
5. Michèle is not asking for money, she only needs kibble, to prevent the stray cats from starving.
"Today, our association is 20 years old. For two decades we have been feeding, caring for, and sterilising street cats in need. But we are all more or less old, and cannot go on alone forever.
Fortunately, young people are starting to join us and get involved in the association's activities. But without help to buy kibble, things will not progress... So we believe strongly in this campaign and need your support!"
