Animal Webaction visited the site 23 June 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

"The pandemic still has an impact on donations, which have drastically decreased, and on the number of abandoned dogs — we've rescued 50 additonal dogs in just one month's time because almost every day, someone either brings a dog in, or leaves a dog in front of the shelter, or advises us that a dog is at risk.
We try to rescue endangered dogs as soon as we hear about them, as we always worry that we might get to them too late, but we are getting overcrowded for it and we now fear not having basic needs covered: we have only 5 days of kibble left!
The dogs we have rescued don’t have anyone but us, their lives and well-being rely on us, and if we are not able to feed them, we are in for a bloodshed… dogs will get into fights over food and hurt each other! It would break our hearts."

"Summertime is particularly hard: on a daily basis, unsterilised mothers give birth to babies and people get rid of them; other people go on vacation and sometimes decide to leave their dog behind; or hunters realise some of their hounds are no longer efficient enough and dump them.
As we can't put everyone to safety for space reasons, we are feeding street dogs as much as we can. If we fail to feed them, dogs not only risk losing their health to poor-quality food, but they could also start chasing cattle, which could cause angry people shooting or poisoning them, or calling the dog catchers on them.
Seeing what people are capable of doing to stray dogs is dreadful. We are the only ones standing between dogs and a painful death, we have to keep on fighting because we are literally the only ones in Prijedor saving them."

"Twiggie was abandoned when she was pregnant. Some village residents took her puppies as soon as they were born and got rid of them, and they beat and hurt her. We took her in immediately when we found out about her.
Twiggie was skinny – just skin and bones, really. When she first came in, she started swallowing chunks of food without chewing, because she was so hungry. She is still recovering from malnourishment and mistreatment, she would not survive another period of starvation."

"Our shelter entirely depends on the donations of good people. These are mostly one-off donations, to support individual dogs or specific surgeries. We don’t have steady donations that could get us going for monthly food and vet care, and we have not received in-kind donations since the pandemic started.
We try not to get into debt because debt might destroy us, but it is increasingly difficult as during summertime everything slows down. Donations decrease because people are saving money for their vacations, and all adoptions stop because no one is willing to take a new dog in during that time of the year.
We have not been successful with online fundraising either, and we constantly wonder if we will have enough finances to provide necessary care to all the dogs we shelter."

"I have been working as an animal activist since 2013. We first managed to form a temporary shelter for dogs, then moved on to our permanent SPAS shelter. We try to educate people on how to behave towards pets, and every time we take puppies, we sterilise their mother for free so she does not get pregnant again.
We have saved over 2000 dogs from death and pain, which is a great success. However, as much as we would like to provide a safe place for every dog and save them from the public shelter where they risk getting killed, we just don’t have enough space or funds.
We really hope to get help from some bigger organizations which could help us to widen our capacities and help as many dogs as there are. One person cannot do everything on their own. We need support from as many people as we can get."

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Bosnia which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

"So far, we didn’t get any positive answer from any organization we contacted, it looks like they are already helping other shelters as much as they can.
We don’t get any help from public authorities either, and we usually get verbal support from locals, but rarely financial one.
We cannot manage on our own any longer with only a few volunteers' time and money… It is very overwhelming to have just a handful of people taking care of this enormous number of dogs."
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.
