Animal Webaction visited the site 03 July 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Hanane is running out of kibble to feed the dozens of street dogs that depend on her. They are already going hungry and may starve if no one intervenes!

%%%

"People are in crisis and no longer want to cover the extra costs for their pets. As a result, there are more stray dogs, and more diseases spreading among them. My shelter is already overcrowded, and I don't have enough resources, I can't save all these dogs, I try to take in extreme emergency cases only.

I used to look for leftover food from restaurants to feed them, but the pandemic has changed everything, they don't want to see stray dogs hanging around their establishments anymore, because customers are complaining. I only have 6 bags of kibble left and I can't buy any more, the association's account is at 0. I have been looking for stale bread to be able to keep feeding them, they haven't had enough to eat for at least 15 days.

I feel a great sadness for these animals, soon I will not be able to feed them at all, I am afraid they will get sick or starve to death. I have tried knocking on every door but to no avail, my only hope is this campaign."

2. Handicapped and vulnerable, Boubi is forced to remain on the streets. Unable to defend himself or find food on his own, he will not survive if Hanane can no longer feed him.

###

"Boubi is a dog of about 3 years old, he has always lived on the streets. He was victim of an accident, a car hit him, but I can't take him to the shelter for the moment because of the lack of means and space.

The accident has left him handicapped, he is very shy and fearful, he can't defend himself and the other dogs eat his food... He is an extremely fragile dog, his condition can worsen at any time if he doesn't eat well, I absolutely must be able to feed him well, it's the bare minimum for him."

3. At Hanane's shelter, the 170 dogs are also suffering from hunger. Fights and illnesses are on the rise, they urgently need kibble.

"My shelter is overcrowded, with 170 dogs at the moment. Just like stray dogs, they haven't had enough to eat for several days now, so I mix the little kibble I have left with stale bread. The situation is catastrophic, the lack of food weakens the dogs and makes them prone to getting infections.

They are catching more and more diseases like scabies, which affects several of them, and no matter how much I treat them I don't see any improvement in their condition. Fights are also getting more and more frequent, I am scared for them.

I am sad and desperate, I spend the day thinking about the fate of my shelter, if I can't find any kibble."

4. With a severe case of scabies, Betty is no longer responding to treatment, kibble is crucial for her to have a chance to recover.

###

"Betty is a former street dog, whom I took into the shelter several months ago. Unfortunately she has contracted scabies and I can't get her to recover: at the moment she is not responding to treatment.

She's a vulnerable and fearful dog, she's very fragile at the moment, her condition can quickly worsen if I don't manage to feed her properly soon."

5. Over-indebted and overwhelmed with problems, Hanane carries everything on her shoulders and fights for all these dogs. But buying kibble has become impossible for her!

###

"I don't get any more donations, because people are in crisis. People don't come to adopt anymore either, so my shelter is full, all this resulting in the fact that I can't accept new dogs, nor run my association without help.

My shelter in particular depends on donations and adoptions. Without donations and adoptions, its future is unknown. I have not yet paid the rent or the salaries of the shelter's caretakers, because we are in crisis, we can no longer afford it. I have debts everywhere, to the vet, to the pharmacy, for all the charges like water and electricity...

I am afraid that I will no longer be able to help the street animals, I am afraid that the dogs in my shelter will get sick or starve to death if I don't find food for them, I am even afraid that my shelter will have to close one day because of the lack of means and help. It is important to support me, because my association depends on donations in the first place."

6. Hanane is not asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"Having an animal shelter has fascinated me since childhood. I decided to create it in 2010, my love for animals pushed me to give myself body and soul for this shelter. It exists for abandoned dogs and stray dogs in general, but also for those from the pound, who have always been victims of torture, violence, abuse and even death.

I welcome them in my shelter and offer them the necessary care, I also look for a family to adopt them and give them the tenderness and love they need. I also organise vaccination campaigns for the benefit of stray dogs to fight against rabies and contagious diseases, which can endanger not only the dogs but also humans.

I do my best to help these animals, but nowadays I can't manage all this alone because of the lack of means."

7. If this campaign succeeds, Hanane will not receive any money but 2500 kg of kibbles, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles throughout the country.

8. Our last campaign for Hanane unfortunately failed, she can't find any other solution and doesn't know how to overcome another failure.

"I often have nightmares at night, especially after the failure of the last campaign. I tried to look for associations to help me but unfortunately I didn't find any because associations that are interested in dogs are very rare in Morocco.

Online fundraising doesn't work anymore, even with small amounts, people don't donate like they used to. I have to wait several months to collect even 100€, which is incompatible with the constant need for food.

I still hope to find new sponsors and associations to help me, I hope to get out of this crisis as soon as possible, and I hope to find food for my dogs. Given the difficulties, this campaign is the light at the end of the tunnel for me for the time being."

9. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.
