Animal Webaction visited the site 18 November 2022 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Morocco, Najat is running out of kibble to feed the 80 street cats in her care. They will starve if no one intervenes!

%%%

"I feed and care for more than 80 stray cats in several neighbourhoods... Their number is constantly increasing: they are massively abandoned, regardless of their age, and too rarely sterilised. They reproduce far too quickly and I no longer have the money to have enough of them sterilised...

With inflation, donations keep dropping! It's dramatic, because it's also affecting my cat feeding rounds: I can't get kibble anymore, even on credit... It's become unaffordable and I'm already in debt. I've always had trouble keeping a regular supply, anyway; it fluctuates according to the donations I receive...

Now it's worse than ever, I only have enough left for a week's feeding, at most! I am rationing the amounts distributed even more than I usually do... I can't cope anymore, I'm desperate! These cats only have me and if the campaign fails, many of them will die..."

2. The cats are famished and dangerous fights break out in the street: the weakest ones will not escape unharmed!

###

"I can only feed the cats once a day and with small portions of kibble. They are hungry and you can see it in their attitude: they fight all the time because of the lack of kibble! Cats that have experienced life indoors do not tolerate deprivation very well and their survival instinct is not very well developed. Just like their immune system...

Injuries between cats are very dangerous and weaken them greatly. This exposes them all the more to viruses that decimate them... And many of them are not vaccinated! Diseases spread very quickly (scabies, coryza...) among street cats and wreak havoc!

Many pregnant females and kittens end up outside. Life in the street is already a real hardship, but on top of that, the adults often prevent the youngest from eating by hogging their rations! Death is omnipresent in the street, they need strength... Without kibble, cats can't face this existence!"

3. Mirka is very young and weakened by an infection: without kibble, the treatment will be useless and her days will be numbered!

###

"Mirka is a very young cat who was abandoned in the street, in an extremely thin state. Her very low immune system, unaccustomed to the harshness of life on the streets, has made her fall ill: she is suffering from a serious eye infection. Without treatment, her health will deteriorate rapidly, but without kibble, the medical care she receives will be in vain. She needs this delivery to get better!"

4. Najat is in debt and lacks donations to cover the needs of the cats: she can no longer buy kibble!

###

"I finance all my actions, care and feeding of the cats, thanks to donations from friends and my personal resources... The latter are melting like snow in the sun and my friends are also affected by inflation. I'm going into debt to pay for everything and it's not possible to continue like this in the long term.

I have to pay off my debts to my kibble supplier and the vet, but I can't afford it... I can't pay my bills anymore, I won't be able to continue rescuing cats without help! People don't give like they used to, they're in too precarious a situation now.

Everything is out of reach: vet care and hospitalisation, fuel, kibble... This has an impact on the help I give to the cats in my neighbourhood. To appeal to the town hall for support would be to sign a death warrant for the cats, given the radical measures they are taking... This campaign is the last hope for the survival of the cats!"

5. Najat is not asking for money, only kibble to prevent the cats from starving.

###

"I am among the few ones who fight for the cats in the area and it really saddens me... Nobody wants to volunteer to help me take care of the cats. Only a friend is there to replace me in feeding rounds when I am not able to do it myself.

It's so sad when I think of all the fragile and hungry cats in my town... I do my best to raise awareness but I feel like I'm up against a wall. Sterilisation is the key to stopping cat overpopulation! However, the municipality is not solving anything: reported stray cats are picked up to be killed in the pound...

As long as people continue to mistreat and abandon cats and kittens that are not sterilised or sick, the situation will always be catastrophic for these animals. These cats really need me to get them back on their feet and eat."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Najat will not receive any money but 920 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics centre in Morocco.

Animal Webaction has a logstics centre in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble throughout the country.

7. Care expenses for the cats are enormous: short of donations, Najat needs help to get kibble!

"I'm doing everything I can to raise funds to help me pay for veterinary care and kibble, especially through my Facebook page where I post appeals for help and donations... But it's very hard. I've contacted a lot of associations but no positive answer has been given to me, at the moment...

If I'm taking in a few cats at home at the moment, it's because they're in such bad shape that they should normally be hospitalised at the veterinary clinic; I can't afford it! So I do what I can to look after them but without donations or funding, it's very complicated.

Whether it's abroad or in Morocco, no institution, association or person comes to my aid, except for friends who sometimes make donations when they have the possibility... This delivery is a last resort to be able to feed the cats in my neighbourhood for a while!"

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail...

Liste des récoltes échouées

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers get a refund.

9. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibble, many cats remain starving in the street!
