Birdy is a cat of about 15 years old, whom we found in the street a month and a half ago. Poor thing was in an emaciated state, due to a severe kidney failure. He was particularly thin in the hindquarters, which is rarely a good sign…
Unfortunately, Birdy is also affected by a calicivirus. The disease causes mouth ulcers that make chewing kibble painful or even impossible. Therefore, we have implemented an antibiotic treatment to help him.
An appropriate diet for cats suffering from kidney failure would be ideal for Birdy. In addition to easing the workload on his kidneys, such food would be much easier for him to ingest than dry kibble. This way, he could start regaining strength without too much difficulty.
Lately, we have had to hospitalize many cats affected by panleukopenia or coryza. At the same time, we have taken in about sixty kittens, which is truly substantial! With our supplies being at zero, the situation could hardly be worse…
