Injured on the nose, Picpic is at a much higher risk of developing sinus infections...

1. He is injured at the nose...

Picpic is a young hedgehog, less than a year old, who was found with a severe nasal injury. Despite a scab, his sinuses are exposed to the open air, which poses an infection risk...

The next step will be to place Picpic in an outdoor enclosure, to see how his nose reacts to his environment. We will leave him there for a minimum of two months, to allow him to fully heal.

2. Canned food would aid his recovery

A vitamin rich diet would be beneficial for Picpic during his convalescence. Originally designed for kittens, canned food would best suit his needs, providing him with valuable nutrients!

The soft and moist texture of this type of food would not risk irritating his nose and exacerbating his wound. It would thus allow him to gain weight, while the tissues of his nose would gradually regenerate.

3. We need your help!

Since our establishment, we have cared for 160 hedgehogs in 2023 and already 11 in 2024, while carrying out awareness and intervention actions in schools.

Hedgehogs stay an average of 43 days in our centre, a period that can extend for those in convalescence or hibernation. Our hedgehog care centre mainly relies on individual donations, as we do not yet have subsidies... Your help with food and blankets would be of great support to us!
