We welcomed Bashasha, a 15-year-old mare to protect her from the slaughterhouse. Neglected, she was in a critical condition. She was also extremely thin, infested with lice and had a severe wound on her shoulder.
She had likely been caught in some barbed wire and urgently needed medical care. We therefore had her operated on immediately.
Used for breeding and giving birth to foals repeatedly, Bashasha's uterus was distorted. Bacteria infiltrated, causing an infection that could have been fatal. She therefore required another operation and antibiotic treatment.
Bashasha also had to have several sarcoids removed. These benign tumours were a daily hindrance. All these treatments in a short time have exhausted her. She is struggling to regain strength.
To regain some energy and recover from her various surgeries, Bashasha needs to be supplemented. Pellets, thanks to their balanced nutrient composition, would promote better regeneration of the various affected tissues. Access to such nutritious food would provide her with a more peaceful convalescence.
Currently, nearly 200 animals, including around a hundred cats and many farm animals, rely on us. The number of abandonments this year has been considerable, and sadly, donations have not increased.
Our financial situation is becoming very precarious! Your help would be invaluable to cater to the needs of the little ones in our care.
