1. In North Macedonia, Emmilija is running out of kibble to feed the 90 dogs in her shelter. If no one helps, they will starve!
"The kibble stock is almost gone, and the 90 dogs at the shelter don’t have enough to eat anymore... For weeks I’ve been forced to cut their portions in half! Now they only get enough to stay on their feet. It breaks my heart to see them waiting, tails wagging, expecting to eat their fill… only to give them less than they hope for.
With the summer heat dehydrating and weakening them even more, the lack of kibble has become a real catastrophe! I dread the days ahead… Without urgent help, I won’t be able to feed them at all.
I took these animals in to keep them safe : not to see them risk starvation."
2. Already vulnerable, the dogs are defenseless against disease in a shelter running out of kibble!
"The dogs are already eating far less than they need. I can only give them low-quality kibble because I can’t afford better. Some have fallen ill, suffering from digestive problems… If I keep rationing, they will inevitably lose weight, grow weaker, and become even more prone to disease.
For those in recovery or under medical treatment, the danger is even greater: their bodies need strength and proper food to withstand the medications. Without it, their very survival is at risk.
If nothing changes, the consequences will be devastating: weakened immune systems, spreading disease, fights over scraps of food, and above all… endless suffering. These dogs have already known hunger on the streets : they should never have to endure it again."
3. Suffering from chronic leishmaniasis, Spaki grows weaker every day without enough kibble...
"Spaki has been living at the shelter for three years now. We found him after a local resident called to complain about a stray pitbull barking nonstop in the street. In reality, Spaki wasn’t dangerous at all : he was sick and in great distress!
The vets quickly diagnosed leishmaniasis. After his first treatment, his condition improved, but in recent months the disease has come back. He has lost weight, suffers from pain in his legs, and once again needs heavy therapy…
His body is exhausted. Without kibble, he won’t be able to handle his treatment or fight the disease. Spaki needs full meals every single day to survive: for him, kibble isn’t a comfort, it’s a matter of life or death!"
4. Burdened with debt and lacking support, Emmilija has nothing left but this campaign to save her dogs...
"Financially, the situation is critical. Donations have dropped sharply in recent months: people are busy with vacations, back-to-school expenses… They don’t have room in their budget for the dogs! Our food and veterinary debts grow each day. Things are so precarious that I fear the moment when our suppliers and vets will cut us off completely.
We’ve tried everything to raise funds: reaching out to local businesses, organizing awareness campaigns, constantly sharing the shelter’s updates… but it isn’t enough. Even the support from our branch in England ;our only foreign aid; no longer covers the needs. We have no other lifeline.
What we want is simple: real meals, dignity, and a chance to heal for our dogs. But without this campaign, all of that will remain out of reach..."
5. Emmilija isn’t asking for money, only kibble to stop her dogs from starving.
"My love for animals goes back to childhood, but it became a true mission the day I realized I wasn’t just saving abandoned dogs… often, it was them saving me, with their unconditional love! That’s why I joined Animals Voice Macedonia: because I cannot look away from their suffering.
In North Macedonia, the situation is dramatic. People rarely sterilize their pets, abandonments are daily, and the streets are full of dogs left to fend for themselves. Here at the shelter, I try to show them that there are humans capable of kindness and respect, capable of giving them a chance at another life.
“Be the change you want to see in the world”, that is what I deeply believe. Here at the shelter, that change is possible, but only with you by our side! Every single donation, big or small, turns into meals, care, and comfort for these animals. Without support, everything we’ve built could vanish. Please, help us continue: these dogs are counting on us."
