Topaze is a kitten just a month old, who was abandoned when he was only 20 days old. As he was covered in fleas and filled with worms, we had to deworm him. Unfortunately, he has cat flu: his nose is running, his eyes are all glued shut, and he has a fever.
For the moment, we are bottle-feeding Topaze indoors. But considering the number of animals we're caring for, we won't be able to keep him forever in our facilities, and will have to release him on the association's grounds as soon as the winter is over. Once outside, he will no longer have anywhere to take shelter...
With a kennel, Topaze would have a place to take refuge in case of bad weather, once we've released him outdoors. Having a roof over his head would allow him to sleep better, which would be invaluable for his development and growth.
We've never seen so many abandonments since our association was established. This year, there are particularly many kittens, many of whom have the cat flu and live outdoors, with nowhere to go.
Caring for them and feeding them represents a gargantuan budget! Unfortunately, we don't have the space to take them in, and not enough budget to provide them with blankets and kennels...
