Poor Mystere was destined for the slaughterhouse due to his illness!

1. He was saved from the slaughterhouse

Mystere is a 28 years old male pony, who was used in a club for baby riding. However, when he developed Cushing's disease, he was sent to a fair to meet his end at the slaughterhouse… Rescued by our association a few years ago, he now lives in a pasture with shelters available to him.

2. He suffers from multiple health issues...

Given that Cushing's disease is sadly incurable, Mystere requires a daily and costly medication to manage its effects. He also sees a podiatrist regularly to prevent laminitis and suffers from summer dermatitis. Lastly, he lost sight in one eye following inappropriate treatments before his rescue. Between his advanced age and all his health issues, Mystere is particularly fragile!

3. Pellets would help him maintain his strength

A supplement such as pellets would be perfect for Mystere. Providing him with vitamins and minerals daily, such food would give him precious energy to better endure the winter despite his health difficulties. This way, he could maintain a sufficient weight and keep his strength.

4. We are enduring a particularly tough period!

The refuge receives no financial aid or subsidy. In winter, costs significantly increase and it becomes progressively more difficult to manage all the expenses. Our boarders need to eat everyday and we need to pay for the vet, particularly as some have life-long treatments that are quite costly...
