Gaspard is about 7 years old, and tragically he's a carrier of FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). He's lived in the shelter for two years, but has been increasingly losing weight due to chronic gingivitis. Because his gums are inflamed, he has great difficulty chewing...
Gaspard has also developed renal insufficiency. As his body is less efficient at eliminating toxins, he requires ongoing treatment to regulate his urea and creatinine values.
A specially formulated wet food designed to support the kidney function would be easier for Gaspard to ingest than dry food. Such canned food would be perfect to help him healthily replenish his vitamins, minerals, and proteins, despite his health problems.
Lately, we've had some very taxing cases, with animals requiring extensive veterinary care. This has been particularly expensive!
Not to mention that one of the shelter walls has collapsed (fortunately, no cat was injured). The repair will cost up to 2,900 euros! Continuing to feed our 170 sheltered animals is hence becoming a real financial struggle...
