Animal Webaction visited the site 20 February 2021 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Romania, Georgina will soon be out of kibble to feed the street dogs. They will starve if nobody intervenes!

"In Orastie and around there are more and more abandoned dogs. For every dog that is leaving from my shelter, another 3 are coming. There are some that I cannot rescue due to lack of space and resources, although I wish I could save them all, it is impossible. At present, I am fully taking care of about fifteen strays, and there are many others in need.

So I try to share the food that I have between all of them, both at the shelter and on the streets. They eat just enough to survive, which is already not easy to maintain, but I only have food left for about a week, after which I really won't be able to provide for them all anymore.

If they lack food, street dogs may attack other animals to be able to eat, or even attack people as they'll become more agressive. They might starve, or end up at the pound where they'll be put down after 14 days if no one adopts them. It makes me really sad"

2. The 49 dogs at Georgina's shelter will soon be out of kibbles as well. If hungry, the strongest ones might kill the weakest, as it happened in the past.

%%%

"At the moment I care for 49 dogs at the shelter : if there is not enough food, they will start to fight, hurting each other, killing each other maybe. Dogs recently rescued can become aggressive, because of the fear they would feel towards the other ones.

The increasing number of abandoned dogs and the lack of food are my worst fears, and I have to face them both. It is a huge stress, I am feeling sad and scared for them, they are like my kids.

My resources are at their lowest right now because I retired, and my pension is lower than my salary was.  I cannot afford to pay my bills, my food and also buy their food. It is very hard for me."

3. At the shelter for less than a month with her newborns, Amy is still weakened. She and her puppies will not be able to survive without kibble.

###

"I found Amy a few weeks ago, at the beginning of February. I took her to my shelter as she really seemed in bad shape, and 5 days later, she gave birth to two puppies.

She is about 10 years old already, it is obvious she is still scared, and not sociable for now. She really needs food, not only for her own survival, but also for the one of her babies. They are still very small, and if she cannot produce milk due to lack of food, it is unlikely for them to survive."

4. Georgina's retirement and the economic consequences of the pandemic have heavily impacted her resources, she can no longer buy back kibble.

###

"Right now everything is more difficult, because the number of rescue dogs is increasing, the prices for food are going higher and higher, while my income has dropped, due to the economic situation in this pandemic. My retirement pension is not enough for almost anything.

Some of the dogs have health issues, so I also need to buy medicines, and I simply cannot buy food, medicines, pay the bills etc... with my own resources, which is why I am trying to get help, I need help to sustain my rescue. In the hope that I can manage to take care of them all, and to be able to continue this work for them."

5. Georgina is not asking for money, only kibbles to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"I love animals a lot, especially dogs because I had them as pets before I opened the shelter back in 2008-2009. Since then I have been trying to take care of them as best as I can, as well as with the stray dogs who need food and affection like any other in my shelter.

The point of my actions is to help the dogs out of trouble, by feeding them, and caring for them, so that they do not get aggressive, and get along with people. I am also trying to sterilise as many as I can, however their number is increasing anyway, since people do not do the same with their pets.

I am doing my duty to them, and trying to help them with all the power that I have."

6. If this campaign succeeds, Georgina will not receive any money but 3000 kg of kibbles, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Romania.

Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Romania, which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Georgina can only count on the support of a few, who have already done their utmost. She doesn't know how to get kibble without this campaign.

"I try to seek help, and I receive a little for which I am very grateful, but it is way too little with all the dogs I have. Most people who support can only offer a couple of cans of food, or maybe a few kilos of kibbles, not even enough to feed them all for one day.

I cannot buy food at this stage with my own income, I cannot make it without help."

8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9. In Romania, it is difficult to find funds for dog food, there are no foundations or subsidies. Many abandoned dogs die alone on the streets.

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Georgina, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch.

If you represent an animal protection foundation or NGO, please help Georgina’s dogs, contact us and we will put you in touch!
